Someone turned 1!

It was Winston's first birthday yesterday. We celebrated with a big family dinner on Sunday and then with a waffle breakfast yesterday. 

These pictures are some of the outtakes from our family Christmas photo.  I thought it would be hard to get him to smile.  Don't know why I thought that.   Winston's motto is:

I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite.

Like his mother. 

He loves his book. 

He even smiles through the chocolate.

Do these glasses make me look cute?

We sent Truman off to EFY (Especially For Youth) mid-June and he came back wearing these glasses you now see Winston sporting.  Although Truman has been wearing prescription glasses since Kindergarten, he stopped wearing them in 6th or 7th grade.  Saying he doesn't need them and the eye doctor doesn't know what she's talking about.  I guess that's when vanity crept in.  Now he wears these beauties, that he took from a fellow EFY girl, daily because he thinks they make him extra special looking.  Forget about seeing clearly, for the 15 year old boy, it's all about the looks!  Go figure.

Yes, my ottoman is looking ragged and yes, I am going to recover it.  Truly.  Just you wait! I've got ideas!

Penguins and dragons.

Meet Philip, the one legged penguin.  He is, of course, one of Truman's creations.  Even though his right leg broke off, he's still a studly type of bird.

Quinn was picked to be in the Gilbert School District's art show at Norwood Furniture in downtown Gilbert.  His pick make him four out of four Tipton kids picked to display their art for the show.  All I know is I've never had any type of art displayed anywhere, and never will.  This is one talent I know for sure they get from their father!

A Blessing Brunch.

On Sunday we had a breakfast brunch for Winston at our home.  Emily & Steven are in a condo that can't fit all of the many family members & friends that came to support and celebrate Winston.  We had several different casseroles, muffins, fruit and lots of these:

Cupcake pops and lemon bars. 

As Emily and I were making them, she commented on how the pops were her wedding colors.  She just had her 2 year anniversary on March 14th.

Winston is in the house!

Emily and I went to Domestic Bliss yesterday to look for a baby shower gift for her friend.  I came home with this sign.  I just love it!  However, the sign is not all I came home with.  I've got new ideas on super cute signs to make for a tiny price compared to the sticker price of $100-$300!!  I'm going to get on that today.  I couldn't pass up this sign though.  One because I love it and and two because it was not close to the $100 mark.  The other item I came home with was......

After Emily and I ate at Sweet Cakes, she found out that her hair appointment scheduled for 3:00 in Scottsdale, doesn't allow little ones.

So, I took Winston home with me.

He is really such a wonderful baby.

His personality is starting to come out and its a lot of fun having him around.

I love his one sided, half faced smiles.

Any resemblance?  The picture on the right is Rick.  He's probably a year or more in this photo but I still think I may see something of a family resemblance.

This is simply beautiful.

On another note, today is R. Cole Tipton's 19th birthday and in 15 days, he leaves for the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo, Utah, where he'll spend 12 weeks learning the Japanese language and Gospel Doctrine.  From there he'll go to Fukuoka,Japan, where he'll serve his mission for two years.  Ah, my baby boy is growing up.

Showered!

On December 28th, 6 days after Mr. Winston was born, Emily was showered with gifts!

Her theme & colors for the baby's room is taken, "The Giving Tree" which is an adorable book.  If you haven't read it yet, do so.  It's quick reading, honest.  I tried to hold to that theme at least color wise.  So if you're wondering, "Where are the traditional baby shower colors?"  There aren't any!

Steven's mom and sister Kaylen attended.  We were so happy they could come!

Friends from Mesquite Canyon Ward came to wish Em & Winston well. 

A ba ba ba, a.k.a. Cherisse, shows off one of her multi talents with the baby quilt she made for Winston.  She had us write a special message to the babe in one of the white squares.  After the shower she put Winston's name in the middle of the quilt.
