Not yo Momma's Scout Camp

Truman and Cole arrived home from scout camp this afternoon with their dad. Apparently they (boys) don't do camp like we (girls) do. One activity they did was to kill a buffalo and

it! After that, Cole caught a trout with his bare hands and his friend gutted it. They ate that too!

Ah . . As you can see by Truman, he got a little dirty. He kept taking the cooled coals from the fire and wiping them on his face . . . . warrior-like. Maybe it was for an antioxidant facial process??

Memories to keep for sure.

Emily's Bridals

I haven't posted any of Emily's official bridal pictures yet. Too busy or something, I guess. She was married at the Arizona Temple on March 14, 2009.
Her bridals were taken a couple of weeks before that.
Here's the picture in front of the Temple. The bouquet she's holding was originally a bigger arrangement sent from Steven on the day of her bridal shower. Steven and his family were still living in Las Vegas at the time and couldn't make it to the shower so he sent her flowers. Emily took the best of the bunch, since they were nearly a week old, and made up a little bouquet for her pictures.
Love this close up with the flowers in the background.
Such a beautiful girl.
I thought the colors worked well with this picture.

Triassic Triops anyone?

One little birthday/baptism gift Quinn received was this kit to grow,
". . actual prehistoric creatures . ."
Uncle Scott and Aunt Jamie gifted this to Quinn.
They start out as minuscule eggs and can end up being 2 inches long, living for 60 to 90 days.
Oh joy.
You've gotta know they smell good too!
Not.

It's great to be 8!

Quinn's baptism was today. Somehow when your youngest gets baptized, it seems weird. Weird in the sense that when our oldest, Emily, got baptized, she seemed so old and mature - in a sense. Now that Quinn has been baptized, he seems young, little, such a little kid still. Is it my willing him to stay young flowing through? Nonetheless, it happened today and it was a fun day! We had lots of family come who melted on the hottest day of the year so far.

Our attempt to take a family picture to seal the day. Um, your eyes are closed, Cole. Is it just me or does our backdrop seem painfully outdated? Take the dried flowers above the picture . . U G L Y ! I will take backdrops into account next time!

Oh look, we gained a new child, a daughter. I think we'll call her Kimber after Kelly's little girl. Wait, she is Kelly's little girl! Never mind.

Who doesn't love a lunch buffet?
It's much better than the girls' camp midnight barf-fet that was put out for us at the end of camp!

We devoured:

Meatballs
Chicken salad sandwiches on croissants
Spinach and strawberry salad
Craisin salad
Pasta salad
Brownies with vanilla ice cream and
Rice crispy treats

Who doesn't love a counter full of plastic cups? Can't think of a single soul. We do it up right!

A few fans of Quinn's; Heather, Cherisse and Jay.

Rick and I wanted to get a picture of just the two of us, for posterity, you know while at Newport. Here's the thing, why is it that I look so distressed because his head is encroaching in on my head space? You can see by the troubled look on my face that I am experiencing the, "you're in my head space," phase!
Still, Rick is in my head space but I here I'm trying to stand my ground and not give in to his encroaching head tilt. Although still troubling, at least I'm trying to smile. You'd think it would be easier for two adults to take a picture. Not so. Troubling I tell ya.

Blocks of fun!

Koa spent the night with Quinn last night. They decided to get creative with their blocks.
Blocks and Star Wars guys make for lots of fun.
